Massi Lectures on Learning Disabilities
Dyslexia didn't stop local attorney Bob Massi from reaching lifetime goals.
Massi, an attorney and founder of Robert A. Massi and Associates, knows what it's like to have a learning disability. That’s why it's so easy for him to address New Horizon School students and their parents about overcoming challenges for those faced with such a problem.
As a dyslexic, Massi triumphed over obstacles throughout his life to achieve numerous goals. In addition to raising a family, he became licensed to practice law in Nevada and Texas, opened his own law firm, authored a book and served as the Fox News Channel legal correspondent.
His accomplishments have led him to reach out to youths with learning disabilities and help them realize success is within reach.
"Dyslexia was not well understood when I was young," Massi said. "Teachers and classmates thought I was simply a poor student. We now know that dyslexia is not related to intellect. In fact, some of the world's brightest and most accomplished people, such as Winston Churchill, Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison and Leonardo da Vinci, were thought to have had dyslexia."
Massi is offering speaking engagements to schools throughout the valley who wish to hear from a successful business professional and the strength he pulled from living with dyslexia.
"Growing up with a learning disability can leave children feeling discouraged about the future and hopeless about a career," he said. "With the right teaching methods and a little encouragement every child can enjoy success. I have learned over the years to view my learning disability as an advantage. It fostered hard work, problem-solving skills and the ability to ask for help. The challenge of a learning disability is responsible in part for my career achievements."
Founded in 1980, Robert A. Massi & Associates practice in the areas of personal injury, business law, real estate law, construction law, wills, trusts and probate. Massi is a licensed attorney in Nevada and Texas and has extensive experience in civil trial practice. His law firm has a satellite office at 1700 W. Horizon Ridge Pkwy, in Henderson.
